MANILA, Philippines — Alyssa Solomon enters a new chapter in her career in Japan with the Osaka Marvelous.

Osaka, the reigning SV.League champion, bolsters its title defense by signing Solomon, who won three championships in the UAAP with National University.

Solomon is signing with the former team of fellow NU product, Jaja Santiago, who led the team to the title last year before transferring to the Denso Airybees.

“I am very honored and excited to join Osaka Marvelous, which is the champions 2024-25 in Japan and one of the best clubs all over the world as well,” said Solomon.

“I would like to improve myself more and to contribute to the club as much as possible. I am looking forward to seeing fans, staff and teammates soon.”

The 23-year-old opposite spiker embarks on a new journey after leading the Lady Bulldogs to a successful title defense in UAAP Season 87 last April.

Japan became her first pro destination after she gave up her participation in the Korean Volleyball League draft for what would be her final year in the UAAP. She also skipped the PVL Draft in June.

The 6-foot Solomon won a pair of SEA V-League Best Opposite Spiker awards with Alas Pilipinas. She played a vital role in Alas’ runner-up finish in the AVC Nations Cup and four bronze medals in four SEA V-League legs, including last year.

Solomon is the latest Filipino who will see action in Japan. Maddie Madayag, Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Marck Espejo, Bryan Bagunas and upcoming Japan league import Leo Aringo are the others.
