Informatics, Trinity clash for Sandugo CAL crown
INFORMATICS-A and Trinity clinched finals berths in the Sandugo Collegiate Athletic League (CAL) men’s division while De La Salle-Dasmariñas and College of St. Benilde arranged a showdown for the women’s crown tomorrow at Treston gym in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
Led by Mark Doligon and Mark Montuano who combined for 29 points, Informatics-A beat Colegio de San Lorenzo, 72-55, for the first finals seat.
Trinity set up the title clash with Informatics-A after a 75-73 nipping of CSB in the tournament backed by the Philippine Sports Commission, Phiten, PC-Gilmore, Gatorade, Uratex, Primovit Multi-vitamins and Platinum Fitness and sanctioned by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.
Article continues after this advertisementIn the women’s side, Kate Mangahas and Dionne Gelisan presided over DLSU-D’s offense to drub University of Santo Tomas, 47-26. Mangahas poured in 23 points while Gelisan added 16.
CSB bested Adamson, 81-67, in the other semifinal. Aileen Benadez and Grace Dadal led CSB with 16 and 10 points, respectively.
SBP officials Sonny Barrios and Bernie Atienza and former PSC commissioner Chito Loyzaga will grace the finals tomorrow. The individual awards are named after Loyzaga’s father, basketball legend Caloy.
Article continues after this advertisementIn the battle for third place, Adamson will meet UST at 10 a.m. in the women’s division, to be followed by the men’s match between CSB and CDSL. The women’s finals between DLSU-D and CSB starts at 1 p.m. while the Informatics-Trinity clash begins 3 p.m.
