Santiago, Roman survive scooter, underbone foes
ANTHONY Roman and Ivan Santiago outlasted their respective rivals to take centerstage in the fifth and penultimate leg of the 2012 Philippine Underbone King Championships and the 2012 Philippine Scooter Racing Championships held recently at Batangas Racing Circuit.
Roman took command from start to finish to capture the premiere 150cc Underbone title in the Underbone King championships while Santiago pulled away in the final lap to emerge victorious in the 180cc Scooters division.
Roman wrapped up the 10-lap race in 20 minutes and 38.444 seconds or 5.511 seconds ahead of his Nino Fabian.
Santiago slipped to fourth on the third lap but clawed his way back to the top to complete the 10-lap race in 20:4.777, or 2.779 seconds ahead of James Barcial. Miko Erich Montano took third place.
