He was thrilled to take home the prestigious plum even though it wasn’t part of his plans.
“With me, I just want to bring FEU to the Final Four. This season, we almost made it, but we didn’t have control of our fate,” said Pasaol, who was part of Gilas Pilipinas’ 3×3 team that suffered an early exit at the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 2025) in Thailand.
Pasaol led the Mythical Team alongside University of Santo Tomas stars Nic Cabañero and Collins Akowe, La Salle forward Mike Phillips and Korean Basketball League-bound Jake Figueroa of National University.
UAAP: Janrey Pasaol focused on trying to win games, not awards
The 22-year-old Pasaol averaged 15.43 points, 7.5 assists, 4.14 rebounds and 2.14 steals per game but FEU narrowly missed the semifinals with a 7-7 record.
Akowe, meanwhile, also took home Rookie of the Year honors after pushing the Growling Tigers to the Final Four. He averaged 16.43 points and 14.5 rebounds per game for UST.
Pasaol’s older brother, Alvin, who starred for University of the East, was a two-time UAAP Mythical Team member back in 2017 and 2018.
