Preseason IPPCA tilt gets going at Nuvali

COLLEGE football gets into high gear starting today with the start of the 2012 Independent Philippine Petroleum Companies Association (IPPCA) Football Pre-Season Cup  at the Nuvali football grounds in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

A nine-game bill is scheduled after the 9 a.m. opening kickoff of the month-long tournament organized by Filoil Flying V Sports.

Expected to grace the opening are representatives of the 15-member IPPCA, led by its president and league chair Fer Martinez and officials of the organizing Filoil Flying V Sports led by league co-chair Joey Guillermo.

The IPPCA companies,  which are bankrolling the tournament, are Chemrez Technologies, Eastern Petroleum, Filpride/USA88, Seaoil Philippines, Flying V, Oilink, Unioil, International Engineer Phils., Filoil Energy Company, City Oil, Metro Oil Subic, Liquified Petroleum Gas Marketers Association, Omni Petroleum, Trans Overseas Industrial and CLO Industrail Innovations and Solutions.

Today’s seniors game pits  Arellano University against UST-Metroil at 10 a.m.,  followed by the 1 p.m. encounter between NCAA defending champion San Beda against guest team University of Makati and longtime rivals Ateneo-Filoil versus De La Salle-Flying V at 3 p.m. on Pitch 2.

Also backing the league are Meralco, Nuvali, Nature’s Spring, Molten, N20 Gastropub, Boysen, BDO,  Topcoms/StarSports Korea, Bacchus, CDO San Marino Corned Tuna and Pingping Lechon.
