MANILA, Philippines—La Salle barely broke a sweat in a 25-15, 25-20, 25-19 sweep of University of the East in the UAAP Season 88 women’s volleyball tournament on Saturday at Araneta Coliseum.
The league-leading Lady Spikers remained unblemished after five games.
“Actually, these kids relaxed, so we had to remind them to treat UE with respect. They should treat their opponents with respect every time,” DLSU coach Noel Orcullo said.

“Our outcome today, for me, wasn’t perfect even if we won. First off, we had a lot of errors. We need to work on them more.”
Angel Canino powered La Salle anew with 12 points built on 10 attacks and two blocks that went with eight digs and six receptions. Katrina Del Castillo and the returning Shevana Laput finished with 10 and nine points, respectively.
Eshana Nunag also shone with 21 excellent sets with four points to boot.
“I saw in our game that I needed to adjust to pass and set up my teammates for their own spikes,” she said. “That’s my role. That’s what I can do to help out.”

Khy Cepada was the sole double-digit scorer for the Lady Warriors with 14 points on 11 attacks, two aces and a block.
UE has yet to win this season, absorbing its sixth consecutive loss.
La Salle hopes to continue its dominance this season against the Shaina Nitura-led Adamson on Wednesday at Mall of Asia Arena.
