Tagaod nailed the telling blows in the second set to tie the game as Akari gained momentum and never looked back.

“We’re happy. We’ve seen all the effort leading up to this game, especially during our third straight win. It’s even more satisfying because we’re starting to find the right balance as a team,” said Akari coach Tina Salak in Filipino. “One big factor is our bench. They’re beginning to build their own identity, which is something we really emphasize in training.”

“I wouldn’t be able to make those digs without my teammates and our coaches, who truly trust the system that Coach Tina gives us. It’s something we really work on in training. We’re happy that it translated into our game,” said team captain Jazareno in Filipino.

From a 0-3 start, Akari climbed to fourth place with a 3-3 record, tying Choco Mucho in the standings.

The loss dropped Capital1 to 3-4 despite a strong performance from Belen, who finished with a game-high 24 points, 13 digs and seven receptions.
