MANILA, Philippines— Emmanuel “Jimuel” Pacquiao Jr. notched his first professional victory with a technical knockout of Darrick Gates on Saturday (Manila time) at Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, California.
Pacquiao stopped the 36-year-old Gates in the second round of their four-round lightweight bout, part of the undercard of the IBF minimumweight title fight between Pedro Taduran and Gustavo Perez Alvarez.

The eldest son of boxing legend Manny Pacquiao unleashed combinations to the body before dropping Gates. The bare-knuckle fighter beat the count but was floored again, prompting the stoppage.
The win marked an improvement from Pacquiao’s majority draw against Brendan Lally in his pro debut last November.
“It’s a weight lifted off my shoulders,” said Pacquiao in a story on Boxing Scene. “I learned so much in my first fight that I was able to implement into my training camp and tonight.”
Manny and Jinkee Pacquiao were in attendance for their son’s fight.
Pacquiao, 25, improved to 1-0-1 with one knockout.
