MANILA, Philippines–Bennie Boatwright has officially returned to San Miguel Beer in hopes of turning the team’s fortunes in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup after taking part in his first practice on Tuesday.
A video posted on social media by the Beermen’s utility man Edwin Cortez showed Boatwright smiling upon entering the sports facility of San Miguel Corporation in Pasig City.

“Everything looks good,” team manager Gee Abanilla said when asked how Boatwright fared.
Boatwright’s arrival came after San Miguel scrambled to have him back on the fold after import Justin Patton failed to show up in Sunday’s loss to Magnolia at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
San Miguel management was furious over Patton’s sudden change in attitude, not only for not appearing in that contest, but also for his absence in previous practice sessions.

That prompted the Beermen to call Boatwright, who had just finished his stint in the Korean Basketball League.
He arrived in Manila on Monday and even posted an Instagram story of him being at the offices of SMC.
The Beermen are banking on Boatwright to not only help improve their 3-4 record, but also aim at replicating their championship run in the 2023-24 Commissioner’s Cup.
