“We fell short, but I think we have a greater chance next season. I hope we bounce back,” he told the Inquirer in the Dayo23 event presented by Jordan in Tondo, Manila, on Saturday.

“I just renewed my contract. I’m super, super excited,” added Tamayo, who was a vital part of Changwon’s title run last year.

Tamayo’s Changwon bowed out of title contention this season after faltering to Kevin Quiambao’s Goyang Sono Skygunners in a 3-0 sweep.

Quiambao’s Sono, however, ended up faltering to the Busan KCC Egis, which had William Navarro in its lineup.

“I’m happy. I’m happy to see a lot of Filipinos performing well internationally. Hopefully, it increases,” said Tamayo.

In the six teams that competed in the recently concluded KBL Playoffs, all of them had a Filipino in their lineups.

The Seoul SK Knights, which fell to Sono in the quarters, had Arvin Tolentino. The Wonju DB Promy, which faltered to eventual champion Busan, had Ethan Alvano.

Rhenz Abando was also in Anyang JKJ Red Boosters’ roster when they lost in the semis at the hands of the KCC Egis.
