AVC Women’s Cup: Alas faces must-win vs unbeaten Chinese Taipei

CANDON CITY, Ilocos Sur – Chinese Taipei remained unbeaten in three games in Pool A ahead of its duel against Alas Pilipinas in the 2026 Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Women’s Cup.
Chinese Taipei turned to Wu Tzuhua, who dropped 13 points to sweep Uzbekistan, 25-17, 25-13, 25-19, on Tuesday at Candon City Arena here.
Besides Wu, Xu Zhenxuan and Ko-Hui Kan delivered 11 points each, while Tsai Yuchun chipped in 10 to tie South Korea on top with 3-0 records.

Chinese Taipei and Alas clash in a crucial game on Thursday at 3 p.m. The Philippines, which lost to a mighty South Korean side on Tuesday, needs a victory to keep its slim semifinal hopes alive.
Uzbekistan, which banked on Dilnoza Boymirzaeva’s 11 points, bombed out of contention with a 0-3 record in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Australia dropped a set to Kyrgyzstan but still picked up its second win in three games with a 25-15, 25-27, 25-16, 25-23 escape.
Caitlin Bettenay brought back the winning ways of the Volleyroos after losing to Chinese Taipei, delivering 13 points to lead the bounce back. Ella Schabort and Lara Maric had 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Kyrgyzstan remained winless in four games despite the efforts of Raiana Baiamanova and Roza Rasulbek Kyzy, who had 13 points each.
In Pool B, Indonesia kept its semifinal hopes alive, as Chelsa Berliana Nurtomo and Medi Yoku combined for 24 points to tow Hong Kong, 25-20, 27-25, 25-14, and improve to a 1-2 card.
Iran (1-2) earned its first win in Pool B with a 25-9, 25-8, 25-15 rout of Lebanon (0-3). Thanks to Fatemeh Khalili, who finished with 10 points on eight attacks, one block, and one ace.
