The 21-year-old Eala reached the round of 16 following a resounding main draw debut at Queen’s Club, beating Chinese veteran Zhang Shuai, 6-3, 6-2, on Tuesday night.
Eala rode a six-match winning streak into her duel against the World No. 19 Jovic, highlighted by a title run in the WTA 125 Birmingham Open.
Despite the early exit, Eala’s grass court swing continues. She is set to compete at the WTA 500 Bad Homburg Open in Germany before seeing action in Wimbledon.
