MANILA, Philippines–Justin Brownlee won his fourth career PBA Best Import award after being hailed as the top reinforcement of the Commissioner’s Cup before Wednesday’s Game 4 of the Commissioner’s Cup Finals.

Brownlee was the hands-down choice, which was announced prior to tipoff at Smart Araneta Coliseum, defeating Rain or Shine’s Jaylen Johnson, TNT’s Chris McCullough and Meralco’s Patrick Gardner.

He garnered 1,264 points through statistics (593) and votes from the media (560) and players (111).

Johnson placed second with 888 points, followed by McCullough (690) and Gardner (534).

In winning the award, Brownlee broke his tie with Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Allen Durham for second on the all-time list.

The most is seven, still held by the late Bobby Parks, who the PBA has named the award since 2013.

It also made Brownlee the oldest import to capture the award at 38 years old, breaking the old mark he also held back in the 2022-23 Commissioner’s Cup when he was 34.

Despite being the shortest import in a conference that has no height limit, Brownlee was able to lead Ginebra back to the Finals after a consistent showing from the eliminations all the way to the playoffs.

But he initially faced stiff competition not just from Johnson but former TNT import Bol Bol, who after the eliminations had a huge lead in the derby.

Bol, however, was left out of the award after being replaced by McCullough during the semis due to an Achilles injury. Under PBA rules, imports who completed the semis are eligible to win the Best Import.
