MANILA, Philippines—TNT import Chris McCullough had more than basketball in his mind in Game 6 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals.
In the Tropang 5G’s 98-90 win over Barangay Ginebra at Araneta Coliseum on Sunday, McCullough drew inspiration from two young athletes whose lives were cut short last week.
Aside from TNT’s fight to keep its season alive, McCullough said he dedicated his performance to Ateneo players Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili, who died in a drowning incident during the Blue Eagles’ team-building activity in Aurora.
“My motivation was bigger than basketball, it’s the two kids who lost their lives and never got the opportunity to play on the big stage. That’s my motivation,” said McCullough.
“It’s bigger than basketball. We dedicate these to the two kids who lost their lives. It’s more than basketball.”

MANILA, Philippines—With TNT’s season on the line, Chris McCullough delivered a masterpiece.
The import made sure the Tropang 5G wouldn’t be sent packing just yet, powering them to a 98-90 win over Barangay Ginebra in Game 6 of the 2026 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals at Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday.
McCullough erupted for a gargantuan double-double of 53 points and 22 rebounds as TNT tied the series at 3-3 and forced a winner-take-all Game 7 on Wednesday.
“I think C-Mac [just] got tired of Justin (Brownlee) eating his lunch,” coach Chot Reyes said.
“He (Brownlee) had another 50-piece today but C-Mac was able to stay in step with him and I think that’s basically the key. Our key was to keep them under a hundred [points].”

Coach Tim Cone knows he needs to strike that perfect balance between Justin Brownlee putting up big numbers and the local lineup contributing heavily if Barangay Ginebra wants to land the knockout punch on TNT.
The problem is finding that sweet spot.
“If you have some ideas, you can tell me,” Cone said. “Honestly, that’s what we’re searching for.”

MANILA, Philippines—Roger Pogoy remained unfazed despite TNT’s Game 5 loss to Barangay Ginebra in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals at Araneta Coliseum on Friday night.
Pogoy’s confidence stems from the fact that the Tropang 5G have been in this situation before.
“We’re still positive because we’ve been here before,” Pogoy told the Inquirer after their 100-95 overtime loss to the Gin Kings that put them in a 3-2 series disadvantage.
“We can’t be down. We have to stay positive.”

But, backed by Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, the Tropang 5G won two straight games to deny the Gin Kings the title.
