Tagaytay ladies in sizzling form, dominate WGAP seventh leg
Tagaytay Highlands made the most of its hosting turn as it dominated the seventh leg of the WGAP circuit with two wins and a second place at Tagaytay Midlands recently.
The Highlanders yielded the Class A crown, losing to Aguinaldo via countback after the two teams finished tied at 138, but the hosts rebounded with wins in classes B and C in the finest showing so far by a team in the circuit organized by the Women’s Golf Association of the Philippines.
Josie Untal scored 37 under the Modified Stableford system while Mabel Sali-vio and Matet Salivio each had 34s and Venus Hufalar added a 33 as Aguinaldo foiled Highlands’ sweep bid.
Article continues after this advertisementRosalie Heo fired 38 points to lead the hosts’ charge while taking the individual honors in the premier group. Emalina Flores, Maripaz Domingo and Farah Imperial added 36, 33 and 31 points, respectively.
Sta. Elena pooled a 133 and nipped defending overall champion Alabang in the countback for third, while Forest Hills placed fifth with a 128 followed by Canlubang (119), Villamor and Valley Golf.
Tagaytay Highlands, led by Rosario Dimson’s 37 points, also assembled a 138 in Class B to beat Alabang by six as Veronica Vergara and Bernadette Wong tossed in 34 points each and Margaret Tan added a 33.
Article continues after this advertisementThe Highlanders, with Patricia Tan shooting a 37, also turned in a 138 in Class C and posted a three-point victory over Forest Hills. Ma. Lourdes Roxas and Dionne Cu added similar 34s while Jessalyn Tan carded a 33 for the host club.
Forest Hills, led by Mary Ang’s 36 points, assembled a 135 and edged Aguinaldo in the countback for second.
