Patrimonio in hot Vietnam start
Filipino Aces Anna Clarice Patrimonio sustained her fiery form Monday as she downed South Korea’s Song Ah in straight sets at the start of the Vietnam International Junior Championships Becamex Cup in Binh Duong. Fresh off her first career victory in the Hong Kong ITF Junior Tennis Championships last week, the 17-year-old Patrimonio wasted little time bundling out Song, 6-2, 6-2. Patrimonio, daughter of four-time PBA Most Valuable Player Alvin Patrimonio, is seeded second in the tournament. Also winning her first-round match was fellow Filipina and No. 3 seed Tamitha Nguyen, who bested Huynh Phi Khanh of Vietnam, 6-3,6-2. But another Filipino bet, Maika Tanpoco was not as lucky, falling to Sweden’s Lina Akesson, 4-6, 2-6. Cedelf P. Tupas
