MANILA—It was a breeze for Adamson and a scrambling finish after a hot start for La Salle in the UAAP men’s basketball tournament yesterday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

The Falcons had little to worry about the University of the East Warriors right from the opening quarter and went on to grab a share of second place with an 85-54 victory.

The Archers rode an early scoring binge before bucking a scoreless stretch in the second half for a 74-63 victory over skidding National University in the second game.

But after shooting a staggering 65.7 percent in the first half , the Archers made only two points in the third period and allowed the Bulldogs to get back into the match.

“I know we kind of relaxed in that part, it proves that we can’t afford to relax,” said Revilla, who also had five rebounds and six of La Salle’s 11 steals.

“But I think it also showed that we did not give up. We kept playing hard and we executed down the stretch when we needed it the most.”

The Falcons joined idle Far Eastern University at 3-1, just a game behind the 4-0 card of three-time champion Ateneo.

The Archers climbed to fifth place at 2-2 after opening the season with back-to-back losses even as the Bulldogs dropped to 1-4.

“We didn’t expect a blowout, so I’m happy that everybody responded to our game plan,” said Adamson coach Leo Austria after inflicting a fifth straight loss on the Warriors.

“We know that it’s dangerous to go up against a winless team, they have nothing to lose. So it’s good the players kept their focus.”
