Things are really heating up between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. — verbally at least.

Mayweather, during his media day workout on Wednesday (Manila time), said Pacquiao was a “reckless” fighter who couldn’t make adjustments.

“My career wouldn’t have lasted this long if I had been a reckless fighter like that [Pacquiao],” Mayweather said in a report in BoxingScene.com. “A guy can land a good shot, but one thing about Floyd Mayweather: I can make adjustments.”

Pacquiao, who held his own media day workout on Thursday (Manila time) countered with his own jab.

It was so subtle, it hurts.

“They like an exciting fight. You know, we call it boxing. Boxing is punching . . . That’s what the fans want – action,” Pacquiao said.

Mayweather will finally fight Pacquiao on May at MGM Grand Garden Arena to unify the WBC, WBO, and WBA Welterweight Titles.

It was a long and tedious process that took almost six years to complete and gained ground when the two boxers accidentally met in an NBA game in Miami, which led to Pacquiao and Mayweather talking personally to make the fight happen.

Mayweather’s style is a direct contrast with Pacquiao’s with his near impenetrable defense which gave him a perfect 47-0 record.

Pacquiao (57-5-2) is a punching machine throwing multiple-punch combos in mind-numbing speed which allows him to dominate the boxing world and earn world titles in an unprecedented eight weight divisions.

“That’s how people like me, love me,” Pacquiao said.
