University of Santo Tomas is waiting for the doctor’s word on when opposite spiker Carmela Tunay can be cleared to play after sustaining a fractured nose on August 2.

Tigresses head coach Kung Fu Reyes said Sunday Tunay, who underwent surgery to fix her nose last Tuesday, would be discharged from UST Hospital on Monday and is due for a check up the day after.

“Concerning Carmela, we’re just waiting on the doctor’s advise,” Reyes said after UST’s win over San Sebastian.

Reyes said Cortez has to take advantage of the absence of Tunay in helping the team while trying to equal the intensity of the veteran Tigress.

“While Carmela is out, Chloe has to step up, put the same intensity Carmela brings,” Reyes said. “I think it only takes a few nudges for Chloe to match Carmela.” CFC
