Continuing his steady rise this 2017 PBA Commissioner’s Cup, Baser Amer expressed no worries of him getting set back by the continuous breaks Meralco has been getting.

“It’s fine because I never stop in my training and conditioning,” he said. “It’s part of basketball and we have to accept how the schedule is.”

Amer showed no rust when the Bolts got back in action after a 16-day break on Wednesday, turning back Phoenix, 81-66.

“After I returned from the all-Star break, I really went back to the grind,” the sophomore said. “I devoted more time on weights, double time on the court to practice on my shooting, drills, and everything together with coach Ronnie (Magsanoc) and kuya Jimmy (Alapag) so that I won’t lose my rhythm.”

Amer finished with 20 points and three assists in the victory as he sustained his ascent this conference for Meralco.

Though the Bolts are still at second place with their 7-1 card, the Davao native said that their team must maintain their focus on their set goal with three games left in the eliminations.

“We should take those last three games seriously. When we go back to practice, we must work hard again. All the credit goes to our coaches. We just follow them and that’s the reason why we’re playing well,” he said.

Meralco will face GlobalPort next Wednesday before taking another 14-day break.
