University of San Carlos (5-2) and University of Cebu (3-3) also made the best-of-three semifinal round which begins Sept. 18 with the UV Green Lancers-USC Warriors clash.

The USJ-R Jaguars and the UC Webmasters start their own series on Sept. 23. USJ-R beat UC, 97-69, on Aug. 7.

The Lancers, runners-up to the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles in the Collegiate Champions League last year, can?t wait to get back at the Warriors who dealt them their only loss so far.

The Warriors shocked the Lancers, 80-76, during the Cesafi opener on Aug. 2.

League scoring leader Gregory Slaughter, who is averaging 21.5 points per game, Jerome Silva, Chris Victor Diputado, Romulo Benedicto Jr. and Ritchum Dennison will lead UV?s charge

UC actually tied with Southwestern University at the end of the preliminaries but prevailed in a knockout match, 76-73, on Sept. 9.

The Cesafi champion will be seeded to the FilOil Flying V ?Sweet 16? Final Challenge while the runner-up will have to go through the Zone 3 qualifying together with the champion teams of Region 4, 5 and 6, the NCAA third placer and a wildcard entry.

The Cesafi third placer advances to the Zone 4 qualifying along with the winners of Regions 7, 8 and 9, the UAAP third placer and a wild card entry.

Meanwhile, Champions League chair Rey Gamboa said they are already evaluating proposals for the hosting of the nine regional and four zonal championships. Romina S. Austria
