Hi-tech chip to monitor QCIM bets

Philippine Daily Inquirer

MANILA, Philippines ? Runners in the first Quezon City International Marathon can now gauge their performances after their respective races through hi-tech computer chips that each will get for the event firing off on October 18 at the Quezon Memorial Circle.

?Participants in the QCIM can assess and analyze their performance based on the advanced electronic timing chips or ?champion-chips? that we will provide them each for the race,? lawyer Rudy Fernandez, president of the organizing Executive Runners Club (Runnex), said yesterday. There will be pacers in each race category.

Individual runners have until today to register for the marathon that serves as a highlight of the 70th founding anniversary celebration of Quezon City under Mayor Sonny Belmonte.
