Camacho insists wushu polls valid

FORMER WUSHU FEDERATION OF the Philippines president and newly elected secretary general Julian Camacho yesterday insisted that the federation?s polls held Saturday was ?legal? and followed procedures set by the Philippine Olympic Committee.

Camacho announced yesterday at the PSA Forum at the Shakey?s UN Avenue that former WFP president Tan She Ling has been elected president with Bernardo Ong voted as treasurer.

The vice president and chair, Camacho said, will be appointed before the WFP stages its national championships from May 22 to 24.

A breakaway group, however, held an election in Oct. 7, 2008 when Tai Lian was president, replacing Camacho, who, under the federation charter was no longer qualified after serving two terms.

The result of the elections, however, failed to get the approval of the POC due to what it claimed were technical violations committed.

The POC recognized the election of the Camacho faction by sending its deputy secretary general and swimming association president Mark Joseph to observe the proceedings.
