Biggest derby duel unfolds at Ynares

MANILA, Philippines - Two formidable blocs of cockers face each other Tuesday to decide which of them reigns as the country’s best consortium in the National Cockers Alliance (NCA) Big Event derby at the Ynares Center in Pasig City.

The consortium spearheded by boxing hero Manny Pacquiao battle it out with the group led by the winning tandem of Gerry Ramos and Ferdie Buensalida in a pairing that is expected to draw legions of cockfight enthusiasts.

Fighting under the Pacquiao banner are 10 entries from the biggest names in local cockfighting. They include Patrick “Idol” Antonio, Chavit Singson, Bong Pineda, Wacky Salud, Eric Pineda, Boy Royo.

Battling alongside Ramos and Buensalida are top-caliber players Gov. Ito Ynares, the Firefly group of Rey Allas, Ernie Austria and Hessie Mallillin, Manny and Arman Santos, Eric dela Rosa, Ruel Ricafort and E. Santos.

The six-cock one-day championship is sponsored by Sagupaan Complexor.

Also entered in the derby are prominent cockers Elmer Nepomuceno, Ellan Nagaño, Pete Ison, Boy Mayor, Tony Tan and Tony Marfori, Ricky Reyes, Tommy Chua and Osang dela Cruz, Efren Canlas, Jet Fernando, Jun Jingco, the Madlangbayan brothers, James Uy, Allan Siaco and Bebot Roxas.
