NIGERIAN Nosa Omorogbe posted an all-around game in leading Perpetual Help to its first victory to clinch the Master Player of the Week in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup.
The 6-foot-4 Omorogbe, in his second year with the Altas, buried 28 points on top of eight rebounds, four assists and three blocks to power Perpetual to an 84-59 rout of Jose Rizal University that snapped its four-game skid last week.
“I just got to do what I have to do to help the team win,” said Omorogbe, whose performance more than compensated for the absence of injured key cogs Femi Babayemi, Earl Thompson and Anthony Paulino.
Omorogbe also led the Gatorade Best Five made up of National University duo Ray Parks and Alfred Aroga, St. Benilde’s Mark Romero and University of Santo Tomas’ Aljon Mariano.
Aroga, a rookie 6-7 Cameroonian, earned the Gatorade Defensive Player of the Week citation.
The Bulldogs completed an 8-0 sweep of the elimination round to claim the first quarterfinal slot in Group A, while Group B pacesetters La Salle (5-0) and Ateneo (6-1) also barged into the next round.
Only the top four teams in each group will advance to the crossover quarterfinals, where the winners will battle in a knockout semifinals.
