Arcilla, Patrimonio cop MSC titles

MANILA—Veteran Johnny Arcilla overpowered Pablo Olivarez II, 6-4, 6-2, and Anna Clarice Patrimonio whipped Aileen Rogan, 6-0, 6-2, Sunday to clinch the men’s and ladies titles in the 1st Makati Sports Club Open Tennis Tournament at the MSC courts.

The 10-day tournament, sanctioned by the Philippine Tennis Association, drew more than 100 players, including some of the country’s finest.

Philta president Rep. Edwin Olivarez assisted in the awarding of trophies and cash prizes to the winners.

The tournament, which fired off on July 29, was a Grade D tournament and dangled Philta ranking points.
