University of San Carlos completed a sweep of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League Visayas-Mindanao zonal tournament to book a return trip to the Sweet 16, even as University of Iloilo pulled off a stunning victory to also advance to the national finals at the Cebu Coliseum on Tuesday.
The USC Warriors, with Sam Hermosa firing 25 points, held off Mindanao champion Agro Industrial Foundation College, 83-81, in overtime to wrap up their campaign with a 3-0 mark.
UI, which lost its first two assignments, completed a stunning turnaround after crushing Southwestern University, 83-67.
The Warriors were to meet University of Visayas at the start of the Sweet 16 yesterday while the UI Wildcats were playing University of Cebu.
The Far Eastern U-Jose Rizal U duel is also set today at the Cebu Coliseum.
