V-League: Air Force makes it five straight after nipping Meralco
MANILA, Philippines — Air Force continued to roll after it pulled the plug on Meralco in a thrilling five-set finish, 25-20, 12-25, 23-25, 25-23, 15-10, in the Shakey’s V-League Season 10 Open Conference Tuesday night at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
The Air Women, anchored by three former University of Santo Tomas standouts, notched their fifth straight win after dropping their first two assignments.
“Surprising talaga kasi 0-2 kami, down talaga kami that time,” said Air Force coach Clarence Esteban. “Sabi ko lang sa kanila, bawat games natin importante.”
Article continues after this advertisementJudy Caballejo unleashed 26 points, Maika Ortiz added 13 and Rhea Dimaculangan had 43 excellent sets for Air Force.
Caballejo had her way particularly in the crucial fourth and fifth sets. Caballejo scored three straight in the deciding set which gave the Air Women a 10-6 edge.
Joy Cases chipped in 14 markers, including a spike that made it, 13-9, in the fifth set, for Air Force.
