‘Cobra-Urge Bike Stunts Grand Finals’ set on Sept.28 at Rizal Park

MANILA, Philippines—The most prestigious event in “BMX and MTB Bike Stunts – the Cobra-Energy Drink – Urge Ride Rules! Tour Grand Finals” set its grand finals on September 28, Saturday at the TF Valencia Circle, Lapu-Lapu Monument, Rizal Park Manila.

Top ten riders in the first leg and second leg in BMX Street, MTB Box Jump Jump, BMX Box Jump and BMX Flatland meet in one last final bike stunts showdown for the year.  The event presented by Cobra Energy Drink, the number 1 energy drink, “Lakas ng Pinas”, Urge Events “We Create, We Moved”, National Parks Development Council (NPDC) and Labs Kita Sabado, and supported by Blitz Communication, INQUIRER.net, Business Mirror, DC Shoes, Dickies, Manila Times, Daily Tribune, Pinas Newspaper, Easy Rock 96.3, Sonshine DZAR 1026, and Home Radio 97.9. This year grand finals will be more competitive and exciting as the crop of finalist riders are expected to give all out, they trained for months for this event.

Defending BMX Street and Box Jump Champion, Dan Lopez, is gunning for a back to back championship this year but still doubtful to give 100 percent of his performance due to the foot injury he sustain during the “Asian Extreme Sports Championship” in July this year in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Defending MTB Box Jump Champion, Eboy Farr is part of the wildcard group and still one of the top favorites to win, but with vastly improved Edgar Sarabia and Jon Castillo are just one of his nemesis in this year grand finals.

Paul Diaz of Parugang Team is a crowd favorite to win the BMX Box Jump Championship, most of the major BMX Jump contest in the Philippines was topped by Diaz, including the Super X last February.  Renz Viaje, the “Pambansang Flatlander” is again expected to top this year BMX Flatland contest but still Viaje will have to contain ever-improving Jose Buisan, Allan Ray Alfaro and Bacolod pride Paolo Gepolango.

In the BMX Street all eyes is with veteran Daniel Garcia, who is gunning for his first national championship, this Baguio City native will prove that his first place finished last second leg is not a fluke but he had to show more effort as he is going to face tough opposition from Chong Zabal, Johnty Claraval, Alben Santos, Worm Lang and Anthonie Bitancor.  Winner of the BMX Box jump Grand Champion will have a date with destiny with “Asian Extreme Sports BMX” best trick Bronze medalist, BMX icon Armand Mariano, in a one-on-one “Game Of Bike Box Jump Contest.”

“The Cobra Energy Drink – Urge Ride Rules! Tour” will start exactly at 1 p.m. for the sports contest, while having a live Graffiti Battle as side event, and live concert at 8 p.m. featuring The Chongkeys after the awarding.  The event is free to the public. (advt)
