Adamson completes UAAP women’s hoops final four

MANILA, Philippines — Adamson nipped Ateneo, 59-50, to secure the last semifinals spot and outsted Far Eastern University in the process Wednesday in the UAAP season 76 women’s basketball tournament.

National University and La Salle occupy the top two spots in the final four with identical 12-2 records, while University of Santo Tomas and Adamson hold the third and fourth slots, respectively, with 8-6 cards.

Joy Cochico had 13 points and dished out eight assists for the Lady Falcons, who will face the Lady Bulldogs in the semifinals on Sunday.

Danica Jose had another double-double of 16 points and 18 rebounds for Ateneo, which ended its campaign with a 1-13 record.

The Lady Archers, who hold twice-to-beat edge against the Tigresses in the semis, trounced the University of the East Lady Warriors, 82-58 in closing out their eliminations campaign.

The Lady Tamaraws actually posted a 12-2 record but dropped out of contention with 7-7 card after five of their victories were forfeited because their captain Vangie Soriano played in a Sunday club during the season.
