ANTONIO Lascuña guns for a second straight win—and more buffer for a second straight Order of Merit crown—when the ICTSI Philippine Golf Tour resumes on Oct. 9 with the Splendido leg in Tagaytay.
After ruling the Southwoods leg last month, Lascuña is tipped as the man to beat in the P1-million, 54-hole event serving as the 12th leg of the local circuit.
Teen prodigy Miguel Tabuena is running second in the OOM and would need to come up with a strong showing in Tagaytay to make the race tighter heading into the final four legs.
Lascuña is easily the hottest player on Tour with his win in Cavite and five runner-up finishes. He also topped the Calatagan stop in Batangas last May.
“There are four legs left and anything can still happen,” said Lascuña in Filipino as he hopes to sustain his hot form leading to the two major events outside the ICTSI Tour.
The Asian Tour’s Resorts World Masters will be played at his home course in Southwoods in late November, while the Philippine Open has an early December playdate at Wack Wack’s East course.
Those two victories and a string of runner-up finishes boosted Lascuña’s earnings to P1,682,332 with Tabuena, who rallied to finish joint second at Southwoods, picking up a total of P1,456,527.
The circuit will go to Riviera in Silang, Cavite on Oct. 16 to 19 for a P2.5 million leg.
