Shakey’s V League: Cagayan tries to stay unbeaten

CAGAYAN Province looks to preserve its unbeaten record heading into the semifinals as it clashes with Army in the Shakey’s V-League Open Conference today at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Clinging to the No. 1 and 2 positions, the Rising Suns and Army Women take the floor at 4 p.m. in the second game of an explosive triple bill to end the classification round of the  tournament.

Regardless of the result, the Rising Suns and Army Women will go into the semifinals as the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds.

The teams they will be facing in the next round will depend on the results of the games between Philippine National Police and Air Force at 2 p.m. and the Meralco-Smart Maynilad clash at 6 p.m.

The Net Spikers have the tough task of beating the also-ran Power Spikers to avoid a possible Final Four clash with the streaking Rising Suns.

The Air Women, sporting a 6-5 card, still have a chance to force a tie for third with a victory over the Lady Patrollers coupled with a Smart loss to Meralco.

Cagayan hopes to sharpen its attacking weapons as it goes for a repeat against Army.
