MANILA, Philippines — Cagayan Valley edged new team Zambales M-Builders, 91-87, to grab the early lead in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup Tuesday at the Arellano Gym.

Mark Bringas broke an 87-deadlock with 3.8 seconds remaining as the Rising Suns improved to 2-0.

Adamson forward Don Trollano led Cagayan for the second straight time with 27 points after dropping 20 in the Suns’ 83-74 triumph over Cafe France in the opener.

The M-Builders, who dropped to 1-1, after failing to follow up their 79-73 victory over Derulo Accelero last Thursday, took a 74-72 cushion early in the fourth quarter following a three-pointer by Jett Vidal.

But the Suns responded with Trollano capping his team’s scoring binge with a triple that gave Cagayan an 81-76 lead.

Roger Pogoy knotted the count at 87 before Bringas gave the lead to Cagayan for good.
