Team Asia claims Queens Cup
Two-time world 10-ball champ Rubilen Amit of the Philippines sustained her fiery form yesterday as Team Asia wrapped up a 10-4 pummeling of Team West to lift the JBET.com Queens Cup at Resorts World Manila.
With Amit starring in two victories on the final day, Team Asia, which led 8-3 at the start of the day, completed its domination of the maiden edition of the event.
“I had a lot of fun in this tournament,” said Amit, who has set her sights on two gold medals in the Southeast Asian Games.
Article continues after this advertisementAmit, who won her two singles matches in the first two days of the competition, joined forces with Korean Ga Young Kim to overwhelm British bets Kelly and Allison Fisher in the doubles, 4-2.
The victory pushed the Asians to the hill in their race-to-10 affair.
Kelly Fisher gave Team West a lifeline with a 4-0 shut out of China’s Shi Ming Chen in the singles.
