Rising Suns seek No. 5 vs Razorbacks

Cagayan Valley tries to keep its perfect run when the Rising Suns clash with Hog’s Breath Cafe in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup today at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The Rising Suns, who had a close call against winless Derulo Accelero last Monday, seek a fifth straight win in the 4 p.m. match.

Jumbo Plastic and Zambales M-Builders vie to rebound from recent losses in the 2 p.m. game while Boracay Rum hopes to halt a two-game skid against National University-Banco de Oro at noon.

Coach Alvin Pua said the Rising Suns, who banked on Kenneth Ighalo (21 points), Adrian Celada (19 points) and John Pinto (17 points) in their 104-100 win over Derulo, remain unfamiliar with the Razorbacks’ game.

The Razorbacks, who tapped Caloy Garcia as coach this season, kicked off their campaign with an 80-69 drubbing of Arellano-Air 21 behind Francis Allera (25 points) and Philip Paniamogan (21 points).

Boracay Rum, bannered by celebrated Fil-Italian guard Chris Banchero, fell to 1-2 after a pair of narrow losses to Blackwater Sports (85-87) and Cafe France (80-84).

Zambales M-Builders  became the first victim of Arellano-Air 21,  73-77, while NU-BDO blew a four-point lead in the dying seconds for a 90-91 heartbreaker against Big Chill.
