MANILA, Philippines — The University Athletic Association of the Philippines will donate at least P300,000 in cash for the victims of Supertyphoon “Yolanda,” the league announced Friday.
The UAAP will turn over the amount to ABS-CBN’s Sagip Kapamilya during the opening of season 76’s volleyball competition December 1 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Host Adamson University also organized a fund-raising exhibition match on November 30, pitting the school’s men’s basketball team against PBA legends headed by coaches Kenneth Duremdes and Marlou Aquino.
Proceeds of the match scheduled at 6 p.m. at Malolos gym in Bulacan will likewise go to Yolanda victims, particularly in the Eastern Visayas region.
Earlier this week, local leagues like the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the Philippine Basketball Association also pledged donations to the typhoon victims.
