Jakarta junior golf: Superal, Chabon spearhead PH romp
PRINCESS Superal rallied with a four-under 68 in the final round to annex the Class A crown while Sofia Chabon dominated Class B as they powered ICTSI-Philippines to the team championship in the 2013 Pondok Indah Junior Golf Championship in Jakarta , Indonesia, Thursday.
Priming up for next week’s Southeast Asian Games in Burma (Myanmar), Superal, a silver medalist in the Asian Youth Games, fired five birdies against a bogey to turn in that 68 for a 54-hole total of 215, five ahead of local bet Tatiana, who had a 220 after a 71.
Malaysian Nyca Khaw Wen Huei skied to a 77 and wound up third at 236 in the premier 16-18 division of the tournament.
Article continues after this advertisementSuperal, however, failed to clinch the overall championship as Thai Kanyalak finished with a 212 despite a final round 74.
Chabon, meanwhile, matched par 72 and ran away with the 13-15 division crown with a 225, six shots ahead of ICTSI teammate Abby Arevalo, who closed out with a third straight 77 for a 231.
Arevalo then nipped Thai Rojanapeansatith (81) in the countback for runner-up honors.

The Thais struggled with a 155 for a 443.
