Jumbo ends Hog’s Breath D-League win streak
Drawing big games from its big men, Jumbo Plastic ended Hog’s Breath Cafe’s perfect run with an 87-70 rout in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup yesterday at Ynares Sports Arena.
Jason Ballesteros (17 points, 17 rebounds), Marion Magat (11 points, 10 rebounds) and Jan Colina (15 points, nine rebounds) dominated the paint as the Giants snapped the Razorbacks’ seven-game winning streak.
The loss pushed the Razorbacks down to second (7-1) as Big Chill grabbed the solo lead (8-1) following an 89-75 blowout win over Cagayan Valley.
Article continues after this advertisementJeckster Apinan got the Superchargers off to a strong start to finish with 15 points, before Reil Cervantes (13 points) and Brian Heruela (13 points, 10 assists) helped them stay comfortably ahead.
“I’m so pleased with the way the players responded,” said Big Chill coach Robert Sison.
Mon Abundo and Josan Nimes also teamed up for 33 points as Café France blasted Wangs Basketball, 64-43.
