MANILA, Philippines — Adamson got a confidence-booster out off an easy 25-17, 25-20, 25-9 win over University of the East Wednesday in the UAAP season 76 women’s volleyball tournament.
Sheila Pineda and Mayette Zapanta teamed up for 24 points for the Lady Falcons, who rebounded from their three-setter setback to La Salle last Saturday and fanned their final four hopes.
“We have a very tough schedule ahead. We got a good win today so hopefully this continues,” said head coach Sherwin Meneses after the game.
Adamson improved its record to 5-5 but faces an uphill climb with Ateneo, Far Eastern University, National University and University of Santo Tomas as their upcoming opponents.
The Lady Falcons are trailing fourth-running Lady Tamraws by a hairline as of posting time in their taut chase for a spot in the final four.
But Meneses would rather have his squad focus one game at a time before worrying about the standings with still a few games to go in the elimination round.
“I won’t think about the standings first, we want to focus on how to win because once we start winning, we’ll improve our record.”
The Lady Warriors, meanwhile, are still in search for their first victory of the season with only four games left in the tournament.
Shaya Adorador had a team-best 11 points for the cellar-dweller UE, which couldn’t overcome its 28 miscues.
