MANILA, Philippines—Far Eastern University downed San Sebastian in four sets, 25-21, 20-25, 25-11, 25-20, to start its campaign in the Shakey’s V-League Season 11 First Conference on a high note Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
High-leaping rookie Bernadeth Pons scored 21 points, 20 of which from kills, while Remy Joy Palma added 15 for the Lady Tamaraws, who are seeking their first title in the league.
Guest player Marie Toni Basas chipped in 11 points, four from service aces for the Lady Tams, who pounced on the Lady Stags’s poor reception with seven service aces.
FEU setter Yna Papa also had 30 excellent sets—aptly filling in for starting setter Gyzelle Sy who was absent for the match.
Gretchel Soltones dropped 17 points while guest player Maru Banaticla, the former University of Santo Tomas spiker, had 14 kills to finish with 15 points for the Lady Stags.
