MANILA, Philippines — Jan Colina nailed a clutch triple as Jumbo Plastic tripped Cagayan Valley, 70-64, Tuesday to grab a share of second in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at JCSGO Gym in Cubao.
Colina’s trey with 68 seconds left gave the Giants a 65-64 lead and Jason Ballesteros sealed the deal, turning a Denice Villamor feed into a basket in the closing seconds.
Blackwater Sports, meanwhile, broke the game wide open early in the second half to forge an 89-74 drubbing of Hog’s Breath Cafe.
Reil Cervantes buried 23 points and Gilbert Bulawan had a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds to power the Elite.
“We’re still making improvements, but we’re enjoying the ride,” Blackwater coach Leo Isaac said of his defending champions, who streaked to their third win after a 0-2 start.
The Giants inched closer behind unbeaten leader NLEX (6-0) after grabbing a share of second at 4-1 with idle Cebuana Lhuillier. With a report from Xavier Villaluz
