Shakey’s V-League: NU tests Davao’s mettle

MANILA, Philippines — Davao tries to achieve its modest target in its maiden Shakey’s V-League campaign Thursday  when it battles unbeaten National U at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Despite a two-game winning run, the Lady Agilas remain underdogs in the 2 p.m. duel with the Lady Bulldogs, who are gunning for a five-game sweep of Group B.

But a win by Davao will formalize its entry in the quarterfinals—the initial goal set by coach Shane Alagao for her team.

The Lady Bulldogs have the firepower and depth to counter Davao with the towering Santiago sisters, Jaja and Dindin, leading the charge.

Ateneo looks to assure itself of a Top 2 finish in Group A as it faces St. Louis U at 4 p.m.

The Lady Eagles are seeking a third straight triumph that will allow them to pull level with conqueror Arellano with a 4-1 card.
