MANILA, Philippines—San Beda dealt Lyceum a sound beating, 80-56, for a 4-0 record in the 2014 Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup Saturday at the Arena in San Juan.

Fueled by a strong opening period, the Red Lions had no problems pulling away from the Pirates, whom San Beda head coach Boyet Fernandez sees as one of their toughest opponents in the coming NCAA season.

“We’re happy we passed Lyceum. They are one of the strong teams in the NCAA. They have a good coach and a good crop of players,” Fernandez said.
