Pedrito Galanza, a player expected to take a significant role for the Red Warriors in the coming UAAP Season 77, scored 17 points while Charles Mammie collected 15 points, six rebounds and three blocks in just 17 minutes off the bench.
“Filoil is not that important to us, the UAAP is what’s important,” said UE head coach Derrick Pumaren.
“But I don’t want my players to get accustomed to losing so we don’t want to take any team for granted,” Pumaren added after his team won its first game in three stints.
Moustapha Arafat started at center and had 14 points, seven rebounds and a couple of steals and blocks.
The Red Warriors, who led, 78-53, after three quarters, shot 52% from the field while limiting the Heavy Bombers to only 34% shooting and forcing them to commit 31 turnovers. UE capitalized on JRU’s errors with 30 turnover points.
Michael Mabulac led the Bombers, who suffered their second setback in five outings, with 19 points while Philip Paniamogan added 13 points.
