Filipino fighters Eddiva, Muñoz defeated in separate UFC events

MANILA, Philippines— Filipino mixed martial arts fighters Mark Muñoz and Mark Eddiva suffered defeats in separate Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) events early Sunday (Manila time).

The veteran Muñoz took a beating from Dutch fighter Gegard Mousasi in the main event of UFC Fight Night 41 held in Berlin, Germany, while Eddiva yielded to Kevin Souza in the The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Muñoz got dominated early before submitting to Mousasi via rear-naked choke in the 3:57 mark of the opening round of their middleweight bout according to mmafighting.com

Meanwhile, Eddiva got handed his first defeat in the UFC as Souza battered him into a second round stoppage in their featherweight match.

While Eddiva, who dominated Jumabieke Tuerxun in his UFC debut last March, managed to survive Souza’s flurry of punches, the referee waived fight off with eight seconds left in the second round as per mmajunkie.com.
