MANILA, Philippines — Looking for help at the offensive end, Globalport acquired a proven scorer in shooting guard Ronjay Buenafe in a trade with Barako Bull made official Wednesday.

The six-foot-one Buenafe, who will make his Batang Pier debut on Friday against the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters, was shipped in exchange for rookie Nico Salva and guard Bonbon Custodio.

Buenafe had five points, two rebounds and two assists in 16 minutes off-the-bench in his final game with the Energy in a 70-98 loss to the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings Tuesday night.

The Batang Pier, who suffered their fourth loss in five games – their second straight defeat despite leading by at least 17 points – after falling at the hands off the San Miguel Beermen, 99-102, Tuesday, also obtained the rights to the Energy’s 2015 second round pick.

In a separate transaction, Grand Slam-seeking San Mig Coffee infused young blood into its roster when it acquired 25-year-old center Yousef Taha from Globalport.

The Mixers, who are currently in joint first place in the standings with Talk ‘N Text and Ginebra at 4-1, also got versatile forward Ronnie Matias along with Taha for long time big man Yancy de Ocampo and sparingly-used marksman Val Acuña.
