Santos is national hoops guest
MANILA, Philippines—PBA star Arwind Santos will make the ceremonial toss when the Metro Manila leg of the 1st Handy Fix Super League National Barangay Championship kicks off Sunday at the San Andres Gym in Malate.
Twelve barangay teams from Manila, six from Taguig and six from Pasay will see simultaneous action.
“A few weeks ago, this first-of-its-kind tournament was launched in Davao. Now it’s Manila’s turn to fulfill one of the primary objectives of this event—to create an opportunity for barangay athletes to compete in a national level,” said Derrick Tan, GM of Magna Prime Distribution Corp., makers of Handy Fix Multi-Purpose Adhesive and Sealant.
Twenty-four teams, spread over three or four cities per region—will play a two-group single round elimination, with the top teams from each bracket facing off for the right to represent their cities in the regional finals on November 5 and 6.
The four city champions go through another single round to determine the regional representatives clashing in the national finals in Cebu City on November 12 and 13.
