Fiba Asia Cup: Gilas PH beats Singapore, improves to 2-0

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines stayed undefeated following a 74-57 drubbing of Singapore in the 2014 Fiba Asia Cup Monday in Wuhan, China.

Paul Lee led Gilas Pilipinas, which tops Group B standings with a 2-0 record, in scoring for the second straight time after tallying 10 points.

Gary David also had 10 for the Nationals, who had nine players with at least five points.

PH raced to a 9-0 lead to start the game and took a 22-point lead, 67-45, after a 3-pointer by Garvo Lanete with 5:34 left.

Beau Belga and Kevin Alas added eight points each while Lanete and Aguilar had seven markers across their names.

PH opened up its campaign with a 78-64 win over Chinese Taipei last Saturday and will close the preliminary round against Jordan on Tuesday.

Singapore shot just 24% from the field and fell to 0-2 after losing to Jordan in its first game. Gilas made 47% of its shots.
