MANILA, Philippines — Philip Paniamogan caught fire late as Jose Rizal University burned Letran down the stretch to win, 69-60, in the NCAA Season 90 men’s basketball tournament Monday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Paniamogan led all scorers with 22 points after firing 14 points in the fourth quarter alone and 11 inside the final three minutes.

“I just became patient until I got into my rhythm,” Paniamogan said in Filipino, after bucking a bad start to lead JRU to its second win in four outings.

The Heavy Bombers trailed, 54-56, before Paniamogan’s hot shooting turned things around. John Grospe and Jaycee Asuncion chipped in 10 apiece.

Veteran guard Mark Cruz had a team-high 19 points for the Knights, who are off to a 1-3 start after coming off a second straight finals appearance last season. Kevin Racal added 17 points.
