UP stops 27-game skid, routs Adamson

MANILA, Philippines — University of the Philippines finally snapped its long losing skid with a 77-64 win over Adamson in the UAAP Season 77 men’s basketball tournament Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Mikee Reyes and JR Gallarza carried much of the scoring cudgels for the Fighting Maroons, who ended a 27-game slide that lasted for two seasons.
Reyes scored 28 points while Gallarza added 24 points as UP logged its first win against six losses this season while sending Adamson to a 0-6 start.
Article continues after this advertisementThe Fighting Maroons led by as much as 24, 60-36, on a layup by Reyes in the third quarter before holding off the Falcons late.
UP’s last win previous to this game came two years ago when it beat University of the East, 63-48, on August 19, 2012.
